VINS, a business start-up supported by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy, uses the potential of georeferenced data acquisition, 3D modeling and virtual reality to offer its customers innovative solutions. VINS provides industry-specific software solutions and algorithms for innovative sensor concepts. VINS is developing the VINS-Forst inspection system for the forestry industry.

The collection of information is an integral part of sustainable forest management. The automated analysis of the data by means of algorithms makes it possible to carry out an extensive and at the same time detailed forest inventory. With the challenges of climate change and the change in management methods from monocultures to near-natural forests, more comprehensive and individual planning data is becoming indispensable. However, the collection and processing of forest data is associated with a very high expenditure of time and money.

The interdisciplinary founding team VINS ensures the further development and marketing of the novel forest measurement system. In addition, VINS is supported by a strong network consisting of Prof. Dr. Ralf Reulke as mentor at the Institute of Computer Science at Humboldt University in Berlin, the close cooperation partners Deutsches Zentrum für Luft- und Raumfahrt e.V., Eberswalde University for Sustainable Development and partners from industry, such as DMT GmbH & Co.KG.

The EXIST Business Start-up Grant is a support programme of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy and is co-financed by the European Social Fund.
