There is a long tradition of referring to books as two-dimensional objects usually made of paper. Digitising and modelling 19th century books by the German illustrator Lothar Meggendorfer into 3-dimensional, animated, interactive objects is the central aim of the BeWeB3D project. The human actor has to be put in a position to trigger the movement of the model. The project is located at Staatsbibliothek zu Berlin and funded by Germany’s Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF).
