Google has launched its version of mobile app for everyday measurements. It’s free to download for any Android smartphone that supports Google’s ARCore platform.

Measure uses ARCore’s spatial features to measure real-world objects. By simply pointing your phone’s camera at the given item, you can get a reading of the distance from one corner to the other. You can get readings in imperial and metric units and take photos.

Measure helps you with quick, everyday measurements around the house or office, similar to a tape measure. Move your phone around the space to find flat surfaces such as tabletops or the floor. Then drag a length tool or height tool into the scene, and adjust it to the right size. Tap the camera icon to snap a photo for later, or tap the trash icon to start a new measurement.

Measurements taken within this app are estimates, as they say, but can still be used in everyday life.
