2000-Year Old Arch Of Titus’ Menorah Panel Digitally Reconstructed In Vibrant Colors

Classical Greece brings forth reveries of temples, sanctuaries, and sculptures in their distinctly white marble facades. This notion perhaps has to do with the numerous extant ancient Greek specimens of structures (like the famed Parthenon), along with statues preserved in their ‘achromic’ forms in various museums around the globe. But when it comes to historicity, it was probably the opposite that was true. In essence, most tangible artworks and architectural feats (including the Parthenon) of ancient Greece probably showcased their kaleidoscopic flair with brightly painted facades.

Theories of Presence in Virtual Reality

In Virtual Reality one of the key concepts is Presence. Much theoretical research has been done around the immersion that the virtual environments can produce, and usually focus the attention in perceptual issues. But different approaches are emerging in the last months. For instance, Dustin Chertoff has published a new, more holistic theory about presence that analyses cognition and emotion too.

SONY 3D CREATOR BRINGS SENSOR-LESS 3D SCANNING TO CONSUMERS

I have always believed that brining 3D to consumers could only work without the need for dedicated depth sensors. This pure-software approach is already being embraced for Augmented Reality with Apple’s upcoming ARKit and Google’s ARCore which was announced last week. Both can give modern smartphones AR-capabilities by just using the regular camera(s), instead of using dedicated sensors like Tango.
