Held at Moscow’s Tretyakov Gallery in 2018, Gonchar ova and Malevich: In Three Dimensions was an immersive exhibition that celebrated the legacy of the founding members of the Russian avant-garde movement, Natalia Goncharova and Kazimir Malevich. We partnered with the museum to transport visitors to the studios of each artist, recreated in virtual reality.

The virtual exhibition, developed by VRTech Group, celebrated Goncharova and Malevich’s enduring legacy, while providing insight into the creation of their greatest works. In addition to entering each artist’s studio, visitors were invited to recreate their artworks using virtual brushes and canvases, producing images that could be shared across social media.

Tretyakov visitors were invited to experience full virtual immersion and though their headsets they have been transported into the carefully recreated studios of late artists Goncharova and Malevich. Within this virtual space, the user not only witnessed the creative process behind the making of an artwork but were also able to reproduce the artists’ greatest pieces using paint brushes on canvas, resulting in the creation of their own still-life artwork. The results were shared on the participants’ social media platforms making the experience interactive and engaging.

VRTech Group, the main partner to the exhibition, has teamed up with HTC Vive to provide visitors with the most up-to-date VR technology to ensure that their experience is cutting-edge and memorable.
