SMI Sets New Standard With Eye Tracking Glasses at 120 Hz

SMI’s Eye Tracking Glasses now operate binocular at a native 120 Hz sampling rate across the entire trackable field of view. This allows for low latency synchronization with motion capture, virtual reality and other data streams.

In this video, leading researchers from around the world explain how this upgrade will improve the way they use eye tracking in their work.

Tom Schorr, Technology Alliances, DS Corporate Development: SMI ETG is a great fit for the Dassault Systemes 3DEXPERIENCE platform with the power to enable new user experiences for Engineering and VR oriented applications.  With the new precise eye tracking synchronization, we are currently prototyping new ways to maximize the human connection with virtual environments.

Dr. Thies Pfeiffer, CITEC, University of Bielefeld, Germany: SMI’s release has the potential to significantly advance our research on gaze-based assistance systems. We expect a more precise differentiation of viewing time as a 120 Hz mode promises a better temporal fit and a low latency synchronization with our motion tracking systems ( VICON , OptiTrack ).
