The German federal state Hessen is investing almost 3 million Euros in the digitisation of culture in the financial years 2018 and 2019 to make Hessen’s national cultural institutions more accessible to visitors and to present them in a modern way. Among the 26 projects that will be implemented in 2018 and 2019 are 3D visualizations, animations and Augmented Reality Apps that brings the past back to life. In addition to the implementation of digital technologies for the presentation of cultural heritage, the cultural institutions are also investing in the expansion and modernisation of their database structures and the digital acquisition of their cultural objects. This helps with scientific work and internal administration.
