Digital art, or new media art, is situated at the intersection of art, technology and science. Although one might think that digital art is a relatively new phenomena, Andy Warhole already created digital art using a Commodore Amiga back in 1985.

Documenting digital art can be quite a challenge, because digital artworks are processual, ephemeral and fundamentally context dependent.

The Archive of Digital Art (ADA) has set up a research database for digital art. Especially interesting for the ViMM community might be the Interactive Archive and Meta-Thesaurus for Media Art Research (AT.MAR) set up by the ADA project.
